Classical War Games
Rome At War: Hannibal at Bay

against the great Cartheginian General Hannibal in 202 BC. Designed by noted Ancients authority, Stephen C. Jackson, this
groundbreaking game introduces a stunning new "miniatures" look to the playing pieces with dramatic three-quarter views of legions,
phalanxes, cavalry, Velites, and other combat units set against the game board's

Britannia
Welcome to a land of sweeping history. Welcome to
a land that the Romans, the Angles, the Saxons, and a dozen other
peoples warred over for a thousand years. Welcome to the land of
King Arthur, Alfred the Great, Harald the Ruthless, and William the
Conqueror. Welcome to Britannia.
BRITANNIA is an historical board game that broadly
depicts the millennia-long struggle for control of England,
Scotland, and Wales. The game begins with the Roman invasion of 43
A.D., continues through the many struggles between Angles, Saxons,
Picts, Norsemen, Scots, Irish, and other tribes, and ends with the
Norman invasion of 1066. BRITANNIA allow players to re-create this
epic history, re-enacting important battles in some cases, altering
the course of history in others. The game rules discourage players
from making historically unrealistic moves, but also give players
the freedom to alter Great Britain’s history in important ways,
creating countless interesting “what if?” scenarios. What if
Boudicca’s Revolt against the Romans had been more successful?
What if the Romans and the Romano-British had repelled the Saxon
invasions of the 5th and 6th centuries? What if William the
Conqueror had died during the Norman invasion of 1066? In BRITANNIA,
the players will determine the destiny of a kingdom.
BRITANNIA is an historic board game of conquest
and war in one thousand years of British history. It is playable by
3-5 players in 2-5 hours.

Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage
One of the greatest military commanders and
tacticians in history descends on the Roman Empire once again. Do
you face him as Rome and try to ward the invasion that comes from
the North, or do you climb atop your war elephant and show Rome you
will take that which they hold most dear: their territory.
Designed with all new artwork from Kurt Miller
this is a reprint of the very popular Avalon-Hill version from 1996.
The game uses the popular card system, which first appeared in
Avalon Hill's We the People, to recount the Second Punic War from
218 to 203 B.C. Players use strategic-level cards for multiple
purposes: moving generals, levying new troops, reinforcing existing
armies, gaining political control of the provinces involved in the
war, and generating historical events. When two armies meet on the
battlefield, a second set of cards, called Battle Cards, are used to
determine the winner. Ultimately both players seek victory by
dominating both fronts: military and political.
This is a 2-player game with a playing time of
approximately 150 minutes.

History of the Roman Empire
History of the Roman Empire covers the time-period
from the Rise to the Fall of the Roman Empire in seven game turns
starting in 60 BC (the first Triumvirate composed of Caesar, Crassus
and Pompeus) until the last Emperor (Romulus Augustus) in 476 AD.
The map contains the entire Mediterranean area as
well as a part of Asia Minor.
Each of the up to four Players takes the role of one
Roman Faction and one group of "Barbarian"-Peoples and by
playing certain event cards you can gain control over minor Kingdoms.
The game is best suited for 4 Players but can be
played by 3 or 2 Players as well.
Since every Player controls a Roman Faction and a
"Barbarian" People it is not possible to completely remove a
Player from the Game (The Roman Faction that Player controls can be
eliminated but the Barbarians can not).
The Game "History of the Roman Empire" is
not strictly historic but offers "a great lot of Flavour about
this" with it's 42 Roman Emperors (and Pretenders) and the 34
different "Barbarian" Peoples and minor Kingdoms. Since
every Player controls Romans as well as Barbarians you will get all
kinds of situations like Romans vs. Barbarians Romans fighting among
themselves or Barbarians fighting other Barbarians.
The Emperor for each Roman Faction changes every
Game Turn as well as the Barbarian Peoples that the Players control…
With it's easy to learn rules (Players who are
familiar with "Espania", "Britannia" or
"History of the World" will find some similarities and some
new features) and the constantly changing Barbarians "The History
of the Roman Empire" can be great fun.
The Players will have to decide how to use their
Roman Legions as well as how to use the Armies of their Barbarians and
of course where to plan new Cities and Forts (for the Roman Factions).
Since it is worth much more Victory Points to control all areas of one
colour soon everyone will try to establish his own small empire (and
of course to disturb the others), until the more powerful Barbarians
like the Goths or the Huns arrive and threaten to take control of the
map. Each turn the Roman Factions spend some of their Victory Points
on new Legions and/or Forts or Fortresses, the Barbarians do not use
their Victory Points for recruiting Units but rather
"mobilize" up to a certain number of Armies (how many units
depends on the Barbarian People). Every game will present you with new
Situations since the Players will work on and change their strategies
and the 45 random cards will influence every game in a unique way…
At the end of the seventh turn, the players total
their victory points and determine the winner.
Will the Roman Empire rise to Glory or will it be
crushed by the Barbarians…
It's up to YOU…

Commands & Colors: Ancients
Commands & Colors: Ancients allows you to
re-fight epic battles of the ancient world. Here the focus is on the
two rivals for power in the Western Mediterranean – Carthage and
Rome. Will you, as Hannibal, triumph over larger Roman armies; or as
Scipio Africanus, will you beat Hannibal with newer tactics of your
own?
Units in both armies can only move and fight when
ordered. The command playing cards supply those orders, providing an
element of luck that creates a fog of war and presents players with
both challenges and opportunities. You must maximize your
opportunities by playing your command cards judiciously. How well you
handle the diverse units, their weapons, and the terrain, will
determine victory.
Commands & Colors: Ancients contains the battles
of Akragas, Crimissos River, Ticinus River, Lake Trasimenus, Cannae,
Dertosa, Castulo, Baecula, Ilipa, and Zama.
- Five full-color sheets of unit labels to affix to
the 345 wooden blocks.
- One 22"x34" full-color mapsheet + three
sheets of Terrain Tile Overlays (double-sided)
- 60 Command Cards
- 7 Battle dice
- 28-page Rule and Battle book
- 2 full color Player Aid cards

Commands & Colors: Ancients Expansion #1
For those who have experienced Commands &
Colors: Ancients, I salute you.
Some of you have already discovered that Commands
& Colors: Ancients is much more than a game. It is an expandable
game system that allows players to fight a host of historical Ancient
battles.
The Greeks & Eastern Kingdoms is the first
expansion to Commands & Colors: Ancients. The armies of Philip,
Alexander and the Successors meet the hosts of Persians, Scythians and
Indians to the east. In this expansion, you will find historical
scenarios that focus on the hoplites of classical Greece fighting off
the invading Persian army at Marathon and Plataea; epic battles from
the Peloponnesian War, the rise of Macedon and Alexander's battles of
Gaugamela, Issus and Granicus against the Persians; and battles
involving Alexander's successors. With your Greeks you will be able to
turn west and battle the Carthaginians in Sicily, or as King Pyrrhus
at Heraclea and Ausculum, battle the Romans.
In this first expansion, we showcase over 20
scenarios (the package includes over 300 new unit blocks and stickers
you need to fight out these battles). Now, that is a lot of history,
but we can do this because Commands & Colors: Ancients is, by
design, a unique historical game system that will allow players to
effectively portray stylized Ancient battles that play to a conclusion
in less than an hour.
The battle dice resolve combat quickly and the
command cards provide an element of luck that creates a fog of war and
presents players with both challenges and opportunities for victory.
Yet the tactics you need to execute conform remarkably well to the
advantages and limitations inherent to the various Ancient units,
their weapons, terrain and the history.
Contents: Five full-color sheets of unit labels to
affix to the 364 wooden blocks, 7 Battle dice, Rule Book, Scenario
book, 2 Player Aid cards.

Commands & Colors Exp. 2: Rome vs. the
Barbarians
Imperial Rome and The Barbarians is the second
expansion to Commands & Colors: Ancients. In this second
expansion you will find historical battles that focus on Rome and
the early Gallic invasion, invasion of the Northmen, the Servile War
(Spartacus), Caesar's conquest of Gaul, the Roman Civil Wars and
much more.
Showcased in the second expansion, are over 20
scenarios that range from 390 BC (Allia River) to 9 AD (Teutoburger
Wald), and all the blocks and labels you need to field the Roman and
Barbarian forces to fight out these battles. By now, you know we can
do this, because Commands & Colors: Ancients by design is a
unique historical game system that allows players to effectively
portray stylized Ancient battles that play to a conclusion in less
than an hour.
Imperial Rome and The Barbarians will feature at
least one new unit type as well as several "specialty"
units and leaders (Briton Chariots, Legionaries using the pilum, and
Caesar, for example). Each of these operates within the confines of
the original system rules, with only slight modifications to reflect
their historical abilities and importance. So, rules-wise, if you've
played Commands & Colors: Ancients, you'll have no trouble at
all learning the few special rules for these new types of units.
The battle dice resolve combat quickly and the
Command cards provide an element of luck that creates a fog of war
and presents players with both challenges and opportunities for
victory. Yet the tactics you need to execute conform remarkably well
to the advantages and limitations inherent to the various Ancient
units, their weapons, terrain and the history.

Commands & Colors Exp. 3: The Roman Civil
Wars
The Roman Civil Wars will feature familiar units
with new capabilities. The Roman legions have evolved into the
deadly fighting units of legend. In terms of Commands and Colors
performance, the medium infantry units (representing less
experienced legions) and heavy infantry units (representing the
veteran legions) will now be able to move two hexes without engaging
in close combat, or still move one hex and have close combat (as
well as throwing their pilum - a capability acquired in Commands
& Colors: Ancients Expansion Pack #2: Rome and the Barbarians).
You will be able to fight battles with medium and heavy infantry as
you have never fought them before!
Rules-wise, if you've played Commands &
Colors: Ancients, you'll have no trouble at all learning the few
special rules for these legionary infantry units, for the basic
mechanics remain unchanged. The battle dice resolve combat quickly
and the Command cards provide an element of luck that creates a fog
of war and presents players with both challenges and opportunities
for victory. Yet the tactics you need to execute conform remarkably
well to the advantages and limitations inherent to the various
Ancient units, their weapons, terrain and the history.
But that's not all... GMT is also going to include
another mounted mapboard in Expansion #3, configured to be mated to
the mounted board from Commands & Colors: Ancients Expansion
Pack #2: Rome and the Barbarians. In addition the Commands &
Colors: Epic Ancients new Command rules for fighting large-scale
historical battles will provide those of you interested in fighting
truly large-scale, multi-player, ancient battles the perfect and
unique opportunity to do so with a number of your friends.
